Vandalia, OH - Ledex, has introduced a new line of tubular solenoids that offer both the quiet operation required in office environments and the reliability needed in demanding applications. The new Ledex solenoids are available in diameters from 1/2in. to 1 in. in push and pull models, with a wide range of forces up to 20 lbs., and stroke lengths to 0.75 in.
Featuring a new solenoid construction technique, the STA Series Tubular Solenoids utilize a low-friction nylon bobbin design that assures quiet operation and a life of up to 25 million actuations. The metal-to-plastic bearing surface also eliminates the problems associated with powdered metal flaking in conventional tubular solenoids. Hard electroless nickel plating further minimizes wear over the life of the solenoid.
The solenoids' construction method also features a case that is rolled over on both ends of the unit, providing greater integrity in severe applications where other tubular solenoids may come apart due to the constant shock and vibration of operation. |

The STA Series Tubular Solenoids offer a built-in air gap spacer/plunger stop in both push and pull versions. This feature eliminates the need for external E-rings and impact washers, which may fail prematurely as well as get in the way of attached mechanisms.
STA solenoids feature three choices of plunger cone angles: flat face, 60° cone and 90° cone. For strokes less than 0.060 in., the flat face plunger is recommended, as it offers a push or pull force three to five times greater than the 60° cone angle; for strokes of 0.060 in. to 0.100 in., the 90° cone is best suited, as it provides 1-1/2 to 2 times greater pull or push force than the 60° cone angle; for longer strokes up to 0.75 in., the 60° cone angle offers the best performance over the flat face or 90° cone angles.
Each STA solenoid is provided with 10 in. PVC leadwires, and uses a UL-approved Class B, 130° C insulation system. For higher temperatures, a UL-approved Class H, 180° C insulation system is available.
Options available on STA solenoids include special plunger configurations, cone angles, springs, and special mounting features.
