VANDALIA, OH -- A newly-patented rotary actuator from Ledex, provides up to 10 times the cycle rate of other actuator technologies, achieving peak torque to 100 oz.-in. The new Ultimag® features a relatively small package size (less than 2 in. diameter by 1-3/8 in. length) and offers exceptional speed and torque performance for limited stroke applications.
Ideally suited for office automation, automotive, factory automation, defense and medical applications, the Ultimag offers a 3 dB closed loop frequency response rating of 66 Hz, but can run well over 100 Hz. Featuring a 100 million-plus actuation duty life, the actuator is appropriate for both rapid cycling on-off or variable positioning. The standard model provides strokes to 45°, but other strokes can be custom-tooled.
The Ultimag actuator is a single coil design incorporating high-grade NeFeB magnets into a low inertia rotor. The permanent magnet is a multiple pole design that is magnetically biased toward the center of stroke at power-off. Featuring internal end-of-stroke stops, the actuator offers various options: magnetic latching at one or both ends of travel; custom stroke limiting; and U.S. or metric shaft and mounting threads.
