Solenoids Used in Vending Machines |
 |
Vending machines are full of Saia-Burgess solenoids.
An overmolded Open Frame solenoid is used in a carousel style vending machine.
There are solenoids positioned next to every food compartment in the vending machine. The solenoids plunger is in position to lock the compartment door closed.
Depending on the cost of the food in each compartment, the solenoid continues to interfere with the door until the correct amount of money is deposited into the vending machine. When the correct amount of money is deposited into the vending machine, the electronics of the machine power the solenoid, causing the plunger to draw into the solenoid body (stator) which in turn allows the compartment door to open.
