| Solenoids Used in Laser Etching Equipment |

 |
A manufacturer of laser etching equipment provides equipment to companies who design and manufacture custom nameplates and labels for plaques and trophies. The machine used a scanning head with a stationary magnet that moves back and forth along a 2-3 foot long rod. The mirror directs a laser beam onto the material to be engraved and the laser etches away the material to create an image. A user of the equipment would want the processing speed to be as fast as possible. So, the manufacturer looked into a design improvement for a next generation development.
By using the Ultimag®, the manufacturer was able to replace the stationary mirror with one that rotates. This allows a user to direct the scanning head in a selected location. By rotating the mirror in this selective locations, a user can fire the laser more often in a smaller area, reducing the processing time.
