A manufacturer of fertilizing equipment required a solenoid to open and close a poppet valve to dispense fertilizer during seed planting. The customer needed to mount a solenoid using threads in the base and the base had to be perpendicular to the plunger axis to assure that the poppet fully closes. The customer chose a 1" x 2" pull STA® tubular product as a the construction of a competitor's unit did not provide a good square base for a mounting surface. This allowed the poppet end of the plug to not seat accurately, causing leaks and wasted fertilizer. The STA® tubular has a special plunger and a grooved end cap. A spring and rubber boot is also added. |
